Full body massage
You begin your massage laying face down on the massage table, with your head in the face cradle and your arms on the arm rest or at your side, whichever is most comfortable for you. You can be partially clothed (underwear, shorts, socks) or nude, whichever is most comfortable for you. You may be draped or undraped … again, whichever you are most comfortable with. I will ask your preference for scented or unscented oil or lotion. I use all natural oils that are very light and I prefer to use a limited amount of oil, just enough to make my hands glide on your skin. We will then discuss any particular areas of your body that may be bothering you or that you feel needs special attention. There will be soft and calming music playing during your entire massage and the room will be very dimly lit with candlelight. I then begin with a general overall light touch of your body to determine if there are any areas where I can feel the tension and/or tightness of particular muscles or joints. I heat the oil in my hands and begin the massage. I strive to be very aware of your body and your particular needs. The modalities that I utilize depend on what areas of the body I am working on and what your preferences may be. Each massage is customized to meet your needs. Your massage could be slightly different from appointment to appointment, depending on what is going on with you at the time of your massage. My goal is to make the massage all about YOU. This is your time to do something good for yourself. I will do my part to make sure that you leave my table feeling totally relaxed and completely satisfied.Modalities incorporated into massage
Swedish – Swedish massage is the most commonly offered and best known type of massage. It uses a firm but gentle pressue to improve the circulation, ease muscle aches and tension, improve flexibility and create relaxation. Swedish massage employs five different movements including long, gliding strokes, kneading of individual muscles, friction, hacking or tapping and vibration.Shiatsu – A relatively modern Japanese body therapy that derives its principles from the ancient wisdom of Chinese medicine. It operates on the belief that health is restored when a balance is reached between the energetic forces of yin and yang within the body, mind, and spirit. Shiatsu helps to bring a harmony between the yin and yang energies of the body and its internal organs.
Aromatherapy – Utilization of essential oils in mixture of massage oil for specific affects. i.e. Lavendar for relaxation. Rosemary for invigoration.
Deep Tissue – Works mainly on the body’s connective tissue, or fascia, which wraps, binds, supports and separates all the internal structures, including skeletal muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments and organs. The aim is to restore structural alignment and balance within the body by removing chronic tensions, formed by deep muscular tension, which inhibit postural ease and movement.
Reflexology – The practice of applying pressure to specific points on the feet and hands to influence the health of corresponding parts of the body. “Pressure sensors” on the hands and feet connect with different parts of the body, and as reflexology techniques stimulate these sensors, waves of relaxation are sent throughout the body.
Energy Balancing – Creates a feeling of balance and integration within the body. Not only brings harmony and equilibrium to the mind and emotions, but can be used as connection hold to do the same on a physical level. This promotes a wonderful sense of wholeness and physical unity.
